:: ABOUT US ::
King Henry IV had a personal poet. His name? . . . Geoffrey
Chaucer. Queen Elizabeth I had her pocket-poet and writer. His
name? . . .
William Shakespeare. In 17th century France, the aristocrats
had their own
pocket-poet who mastered the art of written and spoken word
to call upon.
His name? Cyrano de Bergerac. Every President of the United
States from
George Washington to George Bush have had their pocket-poets,
their speech
writers. Their names are among the most respected in literature
and spoken
word, including Robert Frost and Maya Angelou.
To have your very own pocket-poet, you need not be royalty.
You need not
hold public office. You need not be a member of the aristocracy.
All you
need is our very unique service. We offer poems, speeches, announcements and toasts for any
occasion - each
written especially for you, each signed by the author. You
supply the
reason. . . we supply a memory to last a lifetime.
Founded in 1996, by an artist with a great passion for the
beauty of
language, the Pocket-Poet has provided countless moments of
laughter, and
cheer, as well as touching moments to last a lifetime, and
beyond.
The founder of the Pocket-Poet, who works under the pen name,
RAM,
received his degree in literature, with honors, from Marist
College, and
went on to obtain an advanced degree. His passion for expression
is
evident in his published works, as well as in the poems, announcements,
toasts, and speeches that he has written for our clients.
Unlike most services, we do not sell poems, toasts, or speeches
that are
pre-written, and merely customized. Despite such flowery language
as
"tried and true," "classic works," and
the like, we at the Pocket-Poet
simply refer to those services as "Non-original."
Each of our poems, toasts and speeches are written especially
for our
client, from the first word, to the last. We take pride in
the fact that
our clients give our poems as gifts, and deliver our toasts
and speeches in
front of audiences, both large and small.
Our clients will never deliver a toast or speech that the
audience has
already heard. Our clients will never face the embarrassment
of giving an identical gift.
